Static is a character created by Dwayne McDuffie, John Paul Leon, Robert L. Washington III and Steve Mitchell. He was a normal teenager living in Dakota until, one day, he strolled past two rival gangs having a fight. The police arrive and shot tear gas, which hit canister of radioactive waste. The radioactive waste and the tear gas mixed in a big wave of mutagenic material known as the "Big Bang", which gave everyone hit by it superpowers. Those given superpowers by the Big Bang are known as "Bang Babies". Static was hit by the Big Bang and recived electromagnetic powers, which he decided to use to fight evil as the superhero Static. His arch-nemesis is Hotstreak .
